Henderson: Irene Cothren, age 92, passed away Sunday morning at the Henderson Health and Rehab Center in Henderson.
Mrs. Cothren was born and reared in the Hickory Corner Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late V.G. and Winnie Hall Roland. She went to school at Hickory Corner. She married James Cothren on January 31, 1942 and they made their home in the Montezuma area and in 1968 they moved to Henderson. Mr. Cothren passed away on January 01, 2007. Mrs. Cothren has resided at Henderson Health and Rehab Center up until this time. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved to quilt and cook and raise a garden. Mrs. Cothren was Baptist in belief.
She is survived by three daughters; Linda Blakely and husband Brody of Jackson, Pat Burkhead and husband Tony of Henderson and Nancy Hopper and husband Roger of Henderson. Six grandchildren; Randy Johnson, Reggie Johnson and wife Deb, Holly Hemby and husband Troy, Britt Burkhead, Shane Hopper, Blake Hopper and wife Christy and two step grandchildren; Randy Blakely and wife Dianna and Aimee Oxley. Six great grandchildren Chad, Courtney, Cassie, Chase Johnson and Hunter and Hannah Hemby. Seven step great grandchildren, Elizabeth Blakely and husband Eric and Logan Blakely and Kaleigh Pruitt, Liam Oxley and Emma, Sade and Wyatt Adams.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Louise McNeil and a brother Edward Roland.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with burial to follow at the Chester County Memory Gardens. Rev. Troy Frye will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday at Casey Chapel.
