Mrs. Irene Priscilla Tosh, age 92 of Whiteville, Tennessee passed away Sunday night, April 27, 2014 at the Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin, Tennessee.
A lifelong resident of the Vildo and Hatchie Station communities, Mrs. Tosh was born February 7, 1922 to the late Walter and Elsie Luke. On November 22, 1938, she was united in marriage to John Thomas Tosh, who preceded her in death September 30, 1964. For 20 years she worked for Western Mental Health Institute as a kitchen clerk, retiring in 1987. She also worked as a farmer. She was a member of Whiteville Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, John Thomas Tosh, Jr. of Somerville, Joe Frank Tosh of Whiteville, and Jerry Tosh of Whiteville; a daughter, Mary Peterson of Whiteville; a sister, Agnes Caveniss of Mercer; nine grandchildren, Shannon Peterson, O'Niel Peterson, Danny Benard, Jr., Michael Benard, Jeremy Tosh, Tiffany Tosh, Teresa Patterson, Tommy Tosh, Fonda Bates, Chantel Barnes and James Tosh; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy and Jack Tosh; a sister, Pauline Goad; and four brothers, Alvin, Paul, Clifford and Charles Edward Luke.
