Ivene Bishop, 97, of Enville, TN passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at TriStar Summit Medical Hospital. She has now been reunited with her husband Lester. Ivene had been in good health and her passing was unexpected. Ivene had most recently been living with her daughter Janice in Murfreesboro, TN.
Ivene was born June 21, 1916 in Enville, TN to Gilbert and Florence Tenry. Lester and Ivene spent 60 active years of marriage and were involved in the Enville community. Lester and Ivene were supporting members of the Mount Zion and Milledgeville Methodist Churches and spent their working years farming near Mount Zion. Ivene worked at the Garan shirt factory in Adamsville, TN where she was a Union officer. After Lester’s passing, Ivene enjoyed the companionship of the Adamsville Senior Center. Ivene loved nature, flowers, and watching butterflies, birds and critters. In her later years, Ivene lived alternately with her children in TN and IN.
She is survived by her son, Dwight Edward (Wanda) Bishop of Bartlett, TN;daughters Linda Joyce (Charlie Somers) of West Lafayette, IN and Janice Ann (Roger Hutchins) Bishop of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Beth Dutton, Sherrye (John) Harrell, Michael (Shannon) Bishop, Eric (Tirzah) Somers, Brian (Julie) Somers and Amy (Adam) Lawson; six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; step grandchildren, Vickie Moore, Kim (Wesley) Wheeler, Ken (Casey) Kirby, Katie (Josh) Stone, Kristy (David) Sheppard; 15 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Reabon (Carolyn) Tenry of Union City, TN, Knox (Jo) Tenry of Pleasant Shade, TN and sister Agnes Smith of Henderson, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lester Bishop; her parents; sister, Ulene; brothers Welton, Harold, Wilson, Ray and Neal.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Mount Zion Cemetery Fund.
