Henderson, TN: James Allen “J.R.” Russell, age 67, died Thursday afternoon on White Avenue in Henderson near Roadside Park.
Mr. Russell was born in Memphis, TN and grew up in Joliet, IL the son of the late Amos and Virgie Helen Wheatley Russell. He attended Joliet Central High School. He entered the Marines in 1967 at the age of 17 and served in Vietnam, where he was wounded. He married Loretta Hawn in 1971 and they moved to Chester County in 1976. He worked at Owens Corning and Young Touchtone.
He loved to ride his Harley and help his friends and neighbors. He was headed to help a friend Thursday when his death occurred.
He is survived by two daughters; Crystal Russell Allen of Adamsville and Chasity Russell of Henderson, three grandchildren; Hannah Jamison, Hayden Phillips, and Micah Jones, and two sisters Judith Newman and Janie Talmedge both of Joliet.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Shackelford – Crook Avenue with Ken Frye officiating.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Crook Avenue Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Sunday from 12 noon until 2:00 PM.
