JACK R. BULLINER
Henderson, TN: Jack R. Bulliner passed away March 6, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born July 11, 1931, in Chester County, the son of the late Walter and Mary Elizabeth Wamble Bulliner.
Jack R. Bulliner’s banking career began May 15, 1948, at First State Bank in Henderson, Tennessee. In 1959, Jack was appointed to the First State Bank Board of Directors and later elected President of First State Bank in 1970.
Jack’s passion for banking led to the founding of the Junior Bankers Section (Young Bankers) of the Tennessee Bankers Association (TBA), where he served as President from 1963-1964. Recognized by his peers, in 1977, Jack was elected President of the Tennessee Bankers Association and after term, assisted as Chairman for a year. During his tenure, Jack visited over 100 banks across the state.
In 1977, Jack was named Chairman of the Board of Directors of First State Bank and served proudly in that role for 25 years. In 2002, First State Bank became a division of Clayton Bank and Trust and in 2007 Jack was elected to the Board of Directors of Clayton Bank and Trust and as Chairman of Clayton Bancorp, Inc.
Over the last 65 years, Jack not only served the bank but the community of Chester County. His contributions garnered honors such as “Young Man of the Year,” “Best Boss,” “Mr. Chester County,” and “2011 Citizen of the Year.”
A member of the First United Methodist Church in Henderson, Tennessee, Jack served as Chairman of the Official Board of Trustees, Treasurer and Sunday school teacher. He was a former President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Henderson Civitan Club.
Jack served 22 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard as Battalion Sergeant Major, Captain and Company Commander of Headquarters Company. He held the Tennessee National Guard Commendation Ribbon.
He is survived by his wife Patsy P. Bulliner of Henderson and a daughter, Randi B. Rich, a real estate attorney in Jackson, Tennessee; a grandson, Adam Wilson of Murfreesboro; a sister, Imogene Fitts and a brother-in-law, Jack Fitts of Henderson; a sister-in-law, Janis McCall and husband Joel of Henderson and several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Nancy McHaney.
Mr. Bulliner was preceded in death by, two brothers, Howard Bulliner and DeWayne Bulliner and a sister, Martha Bulliner Parrish.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel, with Dr. Roger Penn and Bro. Jerry Drace officiating and burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel 2:30 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday.
