JACK HILLIARD
Henderson, TN: Emerson Jasper ‘Jack’ Hilliard age 85 passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born November 2, 1928 in Dyer County, the son of the late Eugene and Mary Katherine Rice Hilliard. He graduated from High School in Dyer County and graduated the three year Bible program at Freed-Hardeman and returned later to receive his Bachelor’s from Freed-Hardeman and then his Master in guidance and counseling from the University of Memphis. He married Lola Bell Carter in 1951 and lived for sixteen years in southeast Missouri where brother Hilliard preached. He and Lola did mission work in Bermuda and the Appalachian Mountains near Jellico. They lived in Sitka, TN before moving to Henderson in 1975 to work for Freed Hardeman. He worked in recruiting, was director of placement, and worked in the development office, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
Mr. Hilliard is survived by two sons, Deryl Hilliard and wife Vicki of Henderson and Mark Hilliard and wife Rosemary of Franklin; four grandchildren, Mark Aaron Hilliard, Jessa Sexton, Rachel Connor and Alex Beene and seven great grandchildren, Jack, Jonas and June Sexton, Charlie and Isaac Hilliard and Camryn and Travis Connor.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lola Bell Carter Hilliard , August 10, 2012 and a daughter, Deidra Beene, March 7, 2014.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Ben Flatt officiating and burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday.
