Hillard Gillespie "Jack" Snelling, Jr. left his Earthly home on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the age of 88 years and 13 days. He was born in Lee County, Mississippi on July 16, 1929. He was the son of the late Hillard Gillespie Snelling, Sr. and Clela Mae Palmer Snelling. On January 21, 1950, he was united in marriage to Edna Ruth Burns.
Prior to moving to Hardin County in 1959, Jack served our country in the United States Army. Throughout his life, he worked respectively at Sherman's, Ben Franklin, and the Hardin County Highway Department. In addition to his regular job, he also preached at Piney Grove Church of Christ for 38 years and served as a County Commissioner for 20 years.
Jack is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Burns Snelling and three children, Debra Snelling, Cathy Turner and husband Keith, and Allen Snelling and wife Tina. He leaves behind three grandsons, Justin Snelling and wife Tristian, Hunter Frederick and Morgan Devore, and Logan Snelling. He also leaves behind a very special nephew, Robert Harris and wife Wilma.
