James William DeFord

JAMES WILLIAM DEFORD

was born in Savannah, Tennessee on July 20, 1934 the son of the late Lawrence Aldridge and Ana Louise Riddell DeFord.

Mr. DeFord served his country for 20 years in the United States Army where he was an Crypto-Analyst working in Intelligence. He also had worked for Pickwick Landing State Park. Mr. DeFord has lived in Japan, Texas, California, Okinawa and Turkey and he traveled worldwide while in the Army. He enjoyed fishing, camping and he was an avid outdoors man.

Mr. DeFord departed this life on April 3, 2014 in Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 14 days.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Hulen and her husband Gene of Vernon, Alabama

two grandchildren, Amy Kylus and Danielle Weathers

three great grandchildren, Christopher Kylus, Kaitlyn Kylus and Colton James Weathers

one sister, Peggy Gilliand of Pickwick Dam, Tennessee

one nephew, James Hooper and one niece Judy Franks

one great nephew, Jimmy Dan Cossey and one great niece, Anna Marie Cossey

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Waters.
