James Harold Horton

Services for James Harold Horton, age 70 of Collinwood will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 23, 2012 at Shawnettee United Methodist Church near Collinwood with Bo Johnson, John Ives, and Tommy Flood officiating. Interment following services in Shawnettee Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.



Pallbearers are Phil Horton, Jake Linville, Jody Linville, Bobby Robbins, Curtis Linville, and Dwight Andrews. Hononary pallbearers are Luke Horton, Adam Andrews, and Delbert Dixon.



A lifelong resident of Wayne County, he was born April 11, 1941 a son of the late Claude Frazier Horton and Era Dee Dixon Horton. Also he was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawanda Sue Horton and nephew, Darrell Horton. On December 25, 1962 he was married to Guinda (Gwen) Sue Linville who preceded him December 24, 2010. Harold was retired from the transportation department at Reynolds Metals and Wise Alloys. He loved doing volunteer work for others. He spent many hours of volunteer service maintaining and supervising the upkeep of the grounds at Shawnettee Methodist Church where he and his wife were members for many years. He also volunteered at the Wayne County Help Center.



He is survived by a brother Jerry Horton and his wife Betty Jean; their grandchildren, Luke and Ivy Horton; brother-in-law Curtis Linville and his wife Sue; special friend, Kathy Brison all of Collinwood; nieces and nephews, Phil and Amy Horton, Jake and Jody Linville, and Stephanie Ellis; special godchildren, Dwight and Keddith Andrews and special godgrandchildren, Adam and Abby Andrews of Collinwood and a host of friends.
