Mr. James Franklin Lax, age 81 of Bolivar, departed this life Wednesday morning, July 31, 2013 at Bolivar General Hospital.
Mr. Lax was born in Hardeman County June 5, 1932 to the late James Ernest Lax and Mary Alice Owens Lax and lived all of his life there. On December 20, 1953, he was united in marriage to the former Roalice Gibson, who survives, in Ashland, Mississippi. He worked for the National Asbestos Association as a pipe insulator and was a member of the National Asbestos Association Local #90. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed collecting old cars and tractors, and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was Baptist in faith and was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by three daughters, Clara Jane Lax, Cynthia Diane Lax and Cynthia Jane Baker, all of Bolivar; two sons, Barry Clayton Lax of Bolivar and Christopher James Lax of Memphis; a sister, Janet Sealand of Bolivar; four grandchildren, Ashley Ann Lax, Leslie Paige Lax, Melanie Jane Ross and Solomon James Arrington; and one great-grandchild, Lydia Grace Lucy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Franklin "Jimmy" Lax, Jr.; two brothers, Joseph Brooks Lax and Ralph Lewis Lax; and a sister, Wallie Lee Sisco.
