JERRY AUSTIN
Henderson, TN: Jerry Lee Austin age 78, passed away Friday morning March 21, 2014 at his home.
He was born in Chester County, the son of the late Alton Parker Austin and Willie Sue Ross Austin. He attended Chester County High Schools and married Minnie Armstrong in 1956. He worked for John Deere Implement Company as a mechanic for forty years. He then worked as a mechanic with the Chester County Highway Department until he retired. He loved to restore old tractors. Mr. Austin was a member of the Faith Fellowship Church. All of his friends and extended family affectionately called him Papaw.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Minnie Mae Armstrong Austin of Henderson; a daughter, Debbie Jo Beshiers and husband Jeff of Henderson; two grandchildren, Brian Rayburn and Missy Geary and husband, Ronnie Geary, Jr.; five great grandchildren, Kristin Rayburn Carson, Lee Rayburn, Taylor Geary, Trinity Geary and Brooke Burton; one brother, Larry Austin of Henderson and two sisters, Christine Gray of Henderson and Imojean Coffman of Gibson, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Lee Henry Austin, Cecil Austin, Robert Ed Austin and Guy Austin and five sisters, Edith Thomas, Marie Cupples, Sue Wilbanks, Helen Betts and Elizabeth Austin.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday March 23, 2014 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Ken Frye and Ken Kitchen officiating and burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Saturday.
