Jerry Wayne King, 70, of Bolivar, departed this life Monday evening, June 5, 2017 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Carolyn Greene King, who survives, he worked in the injection molding department of Harman Automotive, working there 35 years prior to his retirement in 2009. He was born July 9, 1946, in Medon, son of the late William Lockman King and Ethel Maybelle Evans King and lived all of his life in Hardeman County. He was a graduate of Bolivar Central High School Class of 1963 and served his country in the US Army 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device (First Oak Leaf Cluster). He married Carolyn Greene on July 22, 1967 and enjoyed working in his garden, reading the Bible through numerous times, and spending time with his family, whom he dearly loved. Mr. King was a member of Big Springs Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn G. King; two sons and their wives, Christopher Wayne King (Mary C.) of Selmer and Jason Brett King (Danielle) of Ramer; two grandchildren, Jalyssa Carol King and Jolie Aeris King; two step grandchildren, Crystal Dawn Strickland and Eric Lee Strickland; and six step great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Maddie, Case, Arianna, Keaton and Skyler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sudie Mae Wiggins and six brothers, William Robert, Charles L. W., Billy Jr., James Manson, Herbert Lee and Kenneth Wayne King.
