Jessie Cooke Clifft

Mrs. Jessie Cooke Clifft, age 83 of Whiteville, departed this life Wednesday morning, September 18, 2013 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bolivar.

A lifelong resident of the Hillville-Whiteville area, she was born in Brownsville to the late Homer and Katherine Callery Cooke September 30, 1929. She graduated with the Class of 1948 from Whiteville High School and on May 14, 1953, she was united in marriage to Mr. Ermon Muesel Clifft, who preceded her in death January 30, 2012. She worked for 25 years for Whiteville Bank and also worked for Nelms Chevrolet and Harmon Automotive. She was a member of Whiteville Methodist Church and loved reading and taking care of her pomeranians.

She is survived by her son, Miles Clifft and his wife Martha of Bolivar; two grandchildren, Michael Clifft and Jennifer Malvezzi; a step-grandchild, Ginger Evans; one great-grandchild and three step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Hugh, Cyrus and H. C. Cooke; and one sister, Louise Harris.
