Joan L. Skelton

Joan Lavon Staggs Skelton of Waynesboro, TN, was born May 28, 1948 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late Cecil Evans and Lizzie Ellen McDonald Staggs.

Ms Skelton was a homemaker and departed this life on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 66 Years, 3 Months, 5 Days.

She is survived by a son, David Skelton and wife, Wendy of Waynesboro, TN; two daughters, Sonya Skelton of Waynesboro, TN, Stephanie Staggs and husband, Brian of Clifton, TN; grandchildren, Erik and Sarah Staggs and Ashley Skelton; a stepchild, April Cummins; a step-great-grandchild; a brother, Jeff Staggs of Collinwood, TN; five sisters, Carol Ricketts, Sharon Borden and Charlene Overton all of Waynesboro, TN, Willean Orton of Lawrenceburg, TN, Sue Potete of Savannah, TN; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ms Skelton was preceded in death by her former husband and the father of her children, Charles (Big Charlie) Skelton; a brother, Joe Staggs; three sisters, Edith Staggs, Bobbie Baugus, Patricia Smith.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Casey Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Shields Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Chris Staggs, Christopher Staggs, Robert Whitehead, Billy McClain and Josh Borden.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 5:30 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
