Joanna McAlpin, 81 of Middleton, passed away Thursday morning, November 26, 2015 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bolivar.
She was born Wednesday, July 25, 1934, to the late George W. Fritts and Hattie C. Fritts in Ellenville, NY. She married William Estel McAlpin on May 15, 1947, and were happily married until he passed on September 23, 2003. She was a member of the women's "3" Sunday school class at Dixie Hill's Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, going to church, eating out, raising babies, and going to the Tennessee River. She loved her husband and her dog "Harley." Mrs. Joanna was also a very talented cook. She lived in this area since she was 8 years old.
Mrs. McAlpin is survived by her six daughters: Brenda (Ted) Lambert of Saulsbury; Nancy (Daniel) Rogers of Bolivar; Sharon (Leon) Campbell of Middleton; Becky (Andy) Avent of Rock Springs, WY; Sandy (Doug) Hall of Saulsbury; and Crystal (Donald) Pannell of Middleton. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Estel McAlpin; her parents; three sisters, Fern, Juanita, and Pat; and a brother, George.
