Joe Taylor Butler of Antioch, TN formerly of Collinwood, was born January 15, 1937 in Collinwood, TN the son of the late Nooney and Laura Nelson Butler. Mr. Butler graduated Collinwood High School in 1955. He was married to Melba Irene Ayers Butler November 27, 1956. She preceded him in death April 2, 2003. Mr. Butler died Friday, January 16, 2015 at Tristar Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 78 Years, 1 Day. He had worked at Maury Ohio Manufacturing Company in Lawrenceburg for many years. For the last several years he had made his home in Antioch, TN where he attended the Rejoice Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends, reading the Bible, and listening to gospel music.
He is survived by son, Brian Butler of Antioch, TN and three daughters, Denise Howe of Smyrna, TN, Sharon Davis and husband Brian of Waynesboro, TN, Joanne Butler of Lawrenceburg, TN, niece/daughter, Betty Sue McDaniel of Iron City TN, grandchildren, Christopher Howe and wife Bridgett, Jonathan Howe, great grandchildren, Kennedy, Kensey, and Drew Howe, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Butler was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, James, and Gary Butler, four sisters, Bonnie Harbin, Faye Creecy, Carolyn Haddock, and Kathleen Smith. son in law Robert Howe, and a grandson, Shawn Davis.
Services will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Collinwood, TN with Michael Mathers officiating. Burial will follow in the McGlamery Cemetery in Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 5:00-9:00 PM and Monday from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
