Henderson, TN: Joe Humphreys Siler age 83 passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Siler was born September 19, 1930 in Chester County, the son of the late Murd Britton (M.B.) and Cordye Humphreys Siler. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1949, attended the University of Tennessee at Martin for two years and entered the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Quincy, a heavy cruiser, during the Korean War. He was married to Doris Murley for twenty-two years and they had one son Britt. Mr. Siler operated Siler’s Well Drilling Service that operated out of the Henderson Feed Mill for about fifteen years. He farmed from 1973 through 1986, when he retired.
He loved to fish and enjoyed University of Tennessee Women’s Basketball.
He is survived by a son, Britt Siler and wife Wendy of Henderson; and a grandson, Drew Siler of Murfreesboro, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Siler.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday to share memories and condolences.
