Joel Edward Seltzer

Joel Edward Seltzer, Sr. of Burns, TN was born March 2, 1941 in Wayne Co., TN the son of the late Joel Brown and Mary Lillian Northcutt Seltzer. Mr. Seltzer died Thursday, December 12, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 72 Years, 9 Months, 10 Days. Mr. Seltzer joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 serving his country for 21 years, discharged in 1979 achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. During his years of service, he served in many duty stations including Viet-Nam. On October 10, 1999 he was married to Judy Crowder Seltzer who survives of Burns, TN. Survivors other than his wife are sons, Joel Seltzer, Jr. of Escondido, CA and Mark Seltzer, three daughters, Tina Marie Seltzer of Pensacola, FL, Jo Ann Gensberg of Huntsville, AL, and Regina Smith of Hebron, IN, 10 grandchildren, a brother, William Seltzer of Muscle Shoals, AL, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Seltzer was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Lee Dicus, two brothers, James Curtis Seltzer and Thomas Seltzer.

Services will be Monday, December 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro with Allen Palmer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Prater's Chapel Cemetery near Clifton with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
