John C. Mansker, age 85, of Waynesboro was born January 6, 1930 in Pochontas, Arkansas the son of the late Larry Euell and Macy Eaton Mansker. Mr. Mansker departed this life Thursday, January 22, 2015 at his home in Waynesboro. Most of his childhood was spent in Knobel, Arkansas and as an adult spent most of his life in Michigan until relocating to Waynesboro. He joined the U.S. Army June 12, 1951 and soon after training, was stationed in Korea and was discharged May 20, 1953. A diesel mechanic by trade, he was employed at Northwood Motors in Troy, Michigan. He was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars and after relocating to Waynesboro attended Green River Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Betty D. Poag Mansker of Waynesboro, TN,
a son, Gregory E. Mansker and wife Anette of Lebanon, PA, two daughters, Kimberly J. Gross and husband Daniel of Warren, MI, and Lori A. Rozell of Franklin, TN, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, a sister, Wanda Loeta Howard of Kalamazoo, MI. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mansker was preceded in death by a grandson, Bradley Kyle Rozell and a a brother, LaVoice Mansker who died in World War II.
Services will be Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Highland Methodist Church near Lawrenceburg (Wayne County) Tenessee with Kerry Franks officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Highland United Methodist Church Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 - 9:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM at the funeral home.
