John Eugene Purviance was born March 4, 1942 in Moweaqua, IL the son of the late John and Eloise Shewmaker Purviance. He was raised in Macon, IL.
Mr. Purviance was a self-employed wood worker specializing in crafting church furniture. He moved to Tennessee from Illinois to pursue his business, eventually making his home in Woodbury, TN. He was a member of Woodbury Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Woodbury, TN. He was an avid gardener, made his own fertilizer and enjoyed being outside.
Mr. Purviance departed this life on January 12, 2015 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 72 Years, 10 Months, 8 Days. He is survived by two sons, John Mark Purviance of Indiana , Daniel Purviance of Selmer, TN; three daughters, Susan McClain and husband Mike of Bethel Springs, TN, Teri Purviance of Selmer, TN, Tami (Purviance) Miller of Jacksonville, NC; 11 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Jones and husband Paul of Decatur, IL; a brother, Jerry Purviance and wife Pat of Kansas City, MO; mother of his children, Ilene Turlock of Selmer, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Purviance was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Purviance; a grandson, Daniel Purviance Jr.
Private Graveside Services will be held on January 14, 2015 at Hope McNairy County Memorial Cemetery, Hwy 45 South, Selmer, TN
