John Franklin (Daddy Jack) Smart

Mr. Smart died Saturday evening at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS.

A native of Somerville, he was the son of the late Blye F. and Catherine Leach Smart. Mr. Smart served as a Seabee in the US Navy from 1961-63 and was a Deacon Emeritus at the Middleton First Baptist Church. On October 25, 1958, he married the former Rose Marie Smith, who survives. He had worked as an Electrician since 1956 for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) in Memphis. A member of the Adams Masonic Lodge in Middleton, he was a York and Scottish Rite. Mr. Smart and his family have lived in Hardeman County since 1976.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, William Gary (Cheryl) Smart of Germantown; two sisters, Ann Lawson of Paducah, KY and Blye Abbott of Ft. Worth, TX; six grandchildren, Jenny, Zach, Kirk, Lindsay, Austin and Kelsey; and one great-grandchild, Zoe.

Mr. Smart was preceded in death by his daughter, Toni Michelle Rodgers and his parents.
