Joyce Canada

June 27, 1950 — March 30, 2014

Joyce Canada, the daughter of Aaron and Vivian Elizabeth Bone Canada, was born in Rockledge, Florida on June 27, 1950. Although she did eventually move to Christmas, Florida, her life took her to other states as well—Kentucky, Georgia and Illinois—before she settled in Savannah, Tennessee.

Until her health began to decline, Joyce attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Savannah. She was a homemaker and a unique individual, one who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and the history of her family. Gardening was a favorite pastime, one which always brought a harvest that had to be preserved, hence her love of canning. Until her eyesight failed she enjoyed sewing and reading, especially her Bible. Family was important to Joyce and her love of writing led her to begin drafting a written history of her family while building her family tree. Perhaps her greatest talent though was being a mother. According to her daughter, she was very good at being a mother, ruling her home with the right balance of discipline and love.

Joyce married Thomas Joseph Cavage, III and began her family, but unfortunately that marriage did not last. Later she married Larry David Hill but his death on July 26, 2001 left her alone once more. Today she is survived by four sons, Thomas Joseph Cavage, IV, Toma Jacob Cavage, Travis John Cavage, and Tyler James Cavage, all of Savannah, Tennessee, and one daughter, Sara Francis Canada, also of Savannah, Tennessee, two brothers, Donald Allen Martin of Savannah, Tennessee and Morgan Clinton Canada of Florida, and one grandson, Johnathan Matthew Cavage.

Joyce departed from this life on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at her home. Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Theresa June Cavage, Tammy Joyce Cavage, and Linda Julie Hill and one son, Lucas David Hill.
