Joyce Marie Gabel Marshall of Waynesboro was born October 14, 1929 in Iron City, TN the daughter of the late James William Gabel and Edna Ava Crews Gabel. Mrs. Marshall died on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro at the age of 85 Years, 4 Months. She was a missionary in Chamisol, New Mexico for nine years where she served as minister with the Pentecostal Church of God. While serving as minister she was instrumental in raising sufficient funds to double the size of the church building and was also instrumental in developing a Christian school where she served as its first administrator. She was preceded in death by her husbands Herschel E. Malone and William C. Marshall.
She is survived by three sons, Larry David Malone of Tucson, AZ, Ronald Gene Malone of Gallatin, TN, and Brian Marshall of Atlanta, GA, a daughter, Shirley Ann McGee of Franklin, TN, grandchildren, David Malone, Jason McGee, Jennifer McGee, Veronica Augustine, Marshall Malone, Steven Malone, Montana Malone, Cierra Malone, and Tristen Marshall, great grandchildren, Griffin McGee, Grady McGee, James Trimmer, Maddie Trimmer, Ava Malone, Brandon Malone, and Tyler Malone, and a sister, Lois Liles of Florence. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by a son, Michael Roy Malone, a grandson, Levi Malone, four brothers, Robert, Aaron, Norman, and James Edward Gabel, and a sister, Jean Gabel.
Services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro with Greg Woodall officiating. Burial following in Railroad Cemetery near Iron City with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be given to Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
