Mrs. Juanita Vandiver Baker, age 76 of Bolivar, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday night, August 2, 2017 at her home.
A lifelong resident of Hardeman County, she was born Monday, September 9, 1940 to the late Aubrey Martin and Gracie Emogene Sanders Vandiver. On Sunday, May 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Mr. Jack B. Baker, who preceded her in death in 1997.
She was a bus driver for the Hardeman County School System for 18 years and also worked at Harman and Kilgore. However, her greatest occupation was raising her five children. She loved flowers, cooking and watching hummingbirds, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Bolivar, where she was on the kitchen committee.
Survivors include her daughters, Cathy Brooks and husband Kevin of Bolivar, Tammy Grider and husband Paul of Bolivar, and Jackie Rhodes of Bolivar; sons, Randy Baker and wife Kathryn of Henderson, and Terry Baker of Bolivar; sisters, Annie Grace King of Bolivar, Faye Overton of Bolivar, and Betty Zaller of Savannah, Georgia; brother, Larry Vandiver of Franklin; grandchildren, Ashley, Stephen, Ella, Heather, Alyssa, Trey, James, Taylor, Dusty and Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren, Coby, Landen and Madisyn.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Vandiver Otto; brothers, Wayne Vandiver, Bill Vandiver and Junior Vandiver; grandchild, Dustin; and great-grandchild, Gunnar.
