June Bearden

August 8, 1942 — May 17, 2014

Naomi June Roberts Bearden, age 71 of Savannah, Tennessee went home to be with Jesus and her beloved Son, Roger Bearden on May 17, 2014, at the Hardin County Medical Center, in Savannah, Tennessee, after a lengthy illness.

A native of Buncombe County, North Carolina, Mrs. Bearden was born on August 18, 1942, the daughter of the late Frank William and Annie Delorse Roberts. Raised in the Locust Grove Community of Weaverville, North Carolina, she was a graduate of The Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, North Carolina. June did not let her blindness, at age 12, keep her from living a full life, working a public job, marrying and raising a family, and working for the Lord. She joined Locust Grove Baptist Church at a young age and attended Holland's Creek Methodist Church in Savannah, where she taught Sunday School for many yeas and also mentored young Christians. June loved to sing and was a member of a group that would sing at many local churches around Savannah, until her health failed. She also loved to crochet and would spend hours of each day turning out beautiful works with her hands to give away to family and friends.

She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and son, by sisters, Josephine Lanning and Vivian Price, and brothers, Jerry Dale Roberts and Carroll Roberts.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Curtis Joe Bearden; a son, Marty Bearden and wife, Annette; a granddaughter, Kim; and two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Kaden, all of Savannah; sisters, Loretta Plemmons of Marshall, North Carolina, Gail Cutshall of Asheville, North Carolina; brothers, Rex Roberts (Ann) of Weaverville, North Carolina,Ervin Roberts (Joyce) of Marshall, North Carolina, and Lynn Roberts (Jennifer) of Weaverville, North Carolina; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mary Jean Crotts.

If you knew June Bearden, you were blessed. Do what she would have done. . .pass that blessing along to someone else. Give them a hug, a word of encouragement, or say a prayer for them. That's what she would have wanted.
