Kaleiah Danielle Williams Nield

April 4, 2011 — January 27, 2015

Kaleiah Sharell Williams was born on April 4, 2011 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. She departed this life on January 27, 2015 at Monroe Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN at the age of 3 years 9 months and 24 days. After being on this earth a few short months, Kaleiah was placed in the foster home of Ron and Kim Nield in Bolivar. On August 27, 2014, Kaleiah was adopted by the Nields and became Kaleiah Danielle Nield.

A fighter from the beginning, Kaleiah conquered a diagnosis by doctors of having only a 10 percent chance of survival when she was born. Battling dysplasia in her right leg, potentially torn ligaments in her left ankle, biopulmonary hypertension, being blind in her left eye, deaf in her right ear and considered oxygen dependent, Kaleiah refused to allow the obstacles of her daily life to prevent her from enjoying everything life had to offer.

Kaleiah spent her days playing outside in the dirt, chasing the family’s pets, taking her mother or sister’s cell phones and taking photos of herself, and cuddling with her family. As the eighth foster child the Nields adopted, Kaleiah taught those around her how to see everyone the same, regardless of race or differences. She spent her summers in the swimming pool and her afternoons at the feet of her mother waiting for chicken nuggets and French fries, with a side order of Cheetos.

Often described as a happy and innocent soul with a captivating smile, Kaleiah never met a stranger. At the tender age of three, she had the ability to turn what would be hindrances to others, into a part of her normal daily routine. From dresses and bows to blue jeans and t-shirts, ‘Wee Wee’ always guaranteed others a smile and a lively personality.

An intelligent and loving individual, Kaleiah enjoyed family time, taking care of her baby brother, watching Frozen, and basking in the glow of being the family’s “Princess”. Some people live their entire lives and never leave a footprint on another soul. Kaleiah’s tiny footprints are etched in the souls and hearts of every individual who enjoyed the pleasure of meeting her. For some, it does not take a 30 year career to leave a lasting legacy.

Kaleiah’s legacy is carried on by her parents, Kim and Ron Nield, her grandparents Homer Lee and Lynn Doyle of Hornsby, Harold and Marty Cook of Memphis and Clarence and Rosalind Williams of Jackson, along with her siblings Anna and Eric McIntyre of Somerville, Dylan and Jessica Edmonds of Somerville, Matthew Edmonds, Zach Nield, Taylor Edmonds, Stephanie Nield, Evan Nield, and Diamond Nield of Bolivar, along with Lindsey Edmonds of Selmer, Tiffany and Anthony Fernald of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Timothy Nield of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Charitable contributions made in memory of Kaleiah may be sent to the First Baptist Church in Hornsby.
