Kathleen Bernice Brooks Gooch Kathleen Bernice Brooks Gooch is gone to be with Jesus. Bernice passed quietly in her sleep about midnight on July 28, 2017 she was 98 years old. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Tyler Clay Gooch; her parents, I. H. and Pearl Brooks; sister, Juanita Gillespie; brothers, George S. and Garland Brooks. She leaves her son, Lloyde Brooks Gooch and wife Beverly of Cherokee Village; grandchildren, Barry Gooch (Katherine), Bryan Gooch (Sherry); greatgrandchildren: Tyler, Shelby, Brooks; great-great grandchild, Hadleigh. Many will remember Bernice working at the family dry goods store "I. H. Brooks General Merchandise". She was an avid fisherman and loved taking her grandsons with her when she would go to the catfish ponds. Mother was a long time member of Court Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Selmer. A devout Christian she rarely missed any church event. She loved her church, working with the youth, and cooking for all events. She especially loved singing in the choir and continued singing well into her 90's. She was involved in the community, working the polls at all elections. The "girls" as she called them played cards at least once a week. When her health began to fail, her son moved her up close to him. No longer able to live alone she was moved into Eaglecrest Nursing Home. She became active in all sort activities but her health continued to fail. Visitation on Saturday August 5th from 12 pm until service at 1 pm all held at Court Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Selmer, TN.
