LAVAUGHN THOMPSON
Pinson, TN: Ellson Lavaughn Thompson, age 76, passed away Tuesday afternoon March 11, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Thompson was born July 28, 1937 at Cedar Grove and raised in Bemis, the son of the late Willias Gaston and Ina Mae Myra Moody Thompson. He attended school at J.B. Young. He married Freda Cardwell in 1959 and they made their home at Jackson. He married Sandra Roach in 1970. He worked as a Police Officer with the Jackson City Police and later as a paramedic for the Madison County Ambulance Service. He had also worked as a security guard at Jackson General Hospital. He married Judith Williams in 1974. He worked in the HVAC Business for several years and then as a general contractor in property management doing various construction repairs. Mrs. Thompson died in 2004. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Hope Chapel Church at Medon, TN.
He is survived by, three sons, Robert King of Crump, Arron Thompson of Senatobia, MS and Michael (Spanky) Thompson of Jackson; three daughters, Tammy King of Selmer, Myra Rider of Pinson and Loretta Waller of Grenada, MS; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; one sister, Glenna Joy Grenrod of Costa Rica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judith Thompson; a sister, Iller Springer and four brothers, H.V. Thompson, Ollis Thompson, Freeman Thompson and Woodall Thompson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday March 15, 2014 at Hope Chapel Church with Marcie Hendrick and Mike Davis officiating and burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Henderson County.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Casey Chapel and beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Hope Chapel Church in Medon, TN.
