Lavelle Vickers Graves, age 74, of Toone, departed this life Sunday, June 4, 2017 at her home.
The widow of Bill Graves, who died on July 7, 2016, after 20 years of marriage, she worked as a clerk at Western Mental Health Institute for 28 years prior to her retirement in 2004. She was born December 24, 1942 in Corinth, Mississippi, daughter of the late Johnny and Tressie Russell Vickers and lived the majority of her life in Hardeman County. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, sewing and reading and spending time with her friends, but especially loved being around her family, whom she dearly loved. Mrs. Graves was a member of Shandy Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Cathy Hopkins of Bolivar, Lenita Griffin of Toone, Angela Upton of Medon, Beverly Ferge of Whiteville and Shasity Mynatt of Toone; a stepdaughter, Brandy Martinez of Selmer; a step son, Jeremy Graves of Middleton; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Mynatt; a stepdaughter, Mary Graves; a step son, Billy Graves; 2 sisters, Faye Lutz and Katie Freshour; and 2 brothers, Travis Vickers and Tyson "Doc" Vickers.
