LAVERN MILLER CAIN
Pinson, TN: Cynthia Lavern Miller Cain, age 90 passed away April 4, 2014 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born July 14, 1923 the daughter of the late Chesley Richard Miller and Elizabeth Parthena Wheeler Miller and reared in Henderson, Crockett and Chester Counties. She went to school in Crockett and Chester Counties. In 1939 she married John Otis Cain. They made their home in Chester County all their married life. She worked at Chickasaw Restaurant as a cook for twelve years and then worked for Park Belk in Jackson in the alteration department for ten years and then retired. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Claude Cain of Pinson and a daughter, Barbara Jean Tutor of Silerton; a daughter-in-law, Joan Cain Rhodes of Henderson and two children from the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home in Memphis that she raised, Wanda Usery and Larry Shackelford; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and also a sister, Linda Wallace of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Otis Cain in 2001 and a son, Richard Cain in 1973 and a granddaughter, Tonia Cain in 1997.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Tillman Mays officiating and burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Chester County.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM Sunday.
