Lesby Maureen Melson Rich of Florence, AL was born October 28, 1921 in Wayne Co., TN, the daughter of the late Joseph (Joe) Henry and Laura Ethel Hayes Melson. She was united in marriage to Charles Edward Rich on December 25, 1943 and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2002.
Mrs. Rich was a retired factory worker and waitress, a member of the Jacksonburg Church of Christ in Florence, Alabama and a member of the Eastern Star and departed this life on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Glenwood Healthcare in Florence, Alabama at the age of 92 Years, 10 Months, 24 Days.
She is survived by son, Tim Davis and wife, Judy and daughter-in-law, Sue Davis all of Florence, AL; grandchildren, Brent Davis and fiance', Tracy Lindsey, Blair Davis and wife, Michelle, Eric Davis and wife, Jennifer, Cecily Davis Wittscheck and husband, Leslie, April and Christy Sharp; great-grandchildren, Carter Davis, Keeton Davis and Cameron Goss; sisters, Etheleen Berry of Columbia, TN and Wylomae Melson of Waynesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Rich was preceded in death by son, Dennis Davis; brothers, J. P., Charles, Rudolph and Hayes Melson; sisters, Theo Dodd Steele and Ruby Franks.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Gary Gooch and Gerald Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Brent, Blair and Eric Davis, Drew Thompson and Donald Melson and Johnny Sinclair. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Eddie, Cledus, Charlie and Jerry Melson.
Visitation will be Monday, September 22, 2014 from 6 pm to 8 pm and Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
