Lucille Duke Rainey
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on October 10, 1921, the daughter of the late Benjamin Norris and Sarah Wade Duke.
Ms. Rainey was a member of the Savannah Church of Christ where she worshipped for many years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, spending time with her grandchildren, and quilting.
She departed this life on September 12, 2014, at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 92 years, 11 months, and 2 days.
Ms. Rainey is survived by her two sons and three daughters: Archie (Betty) Rainey of Columbus, Georgia, Joel (Natalie) Rainey of Columbia, Tennessee, Kay (Jimmy) Williams of Savannah, Tennessee, Sharon (Tink) Haney of Athens, Alabama, and Lisa (Jim) Murphy of Savannah, Tennessee; eight grandchildren: Kristi (Dean) Jernigan, Pete (Maria) Williams, Heather Haney, Jeremy and Kyle Murphy, Jared and Kjersteen Rainey, and Marsha Oates; six great-grandchildren: Chris, Lindsay, and Rainey Jernigan, Angie (Jonathan) Perry, Martha Kay Williams, and Abigail Oates; three great-great-grandchildren: Jon Nolan, Morgan, and Harrison Perry; and close family friend, Joe Sanford of Athens, Alabama.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elita Owen and Roberta McCasland; seven brothers, Gilbert, Walt, Ben, Frank, Herschel, Erschel, and Ted Duke; and a grandson, Will Haney.
