Mrs. Lula Mae Bolden, age 70 of Oakland, Tennessee, died Thursday morning, August 3, 2017 at her home.
A lifelong resident of Fayette County, Tennessee, Mrs. Bolden was born Wednesday, January 29, 1947 to the late Perry and Mattie Mae Henley Matthews. She was untied in marriage to Mr. Robert Sanders, who preceded her in death in 1985.
She worked in the home where she raised her family and loved to cook. She also liked gardening and raised her own tobacco. She was a long-time member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church and cherished her church family. Most of all, she loved her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Carpenter (Gregory) of Oakland, Pearl Shuit (Scott) of Atoka, Dorothy Sanders (Manueal) of Arlington, and Wanda Smith (Ken) of Millington; sons, Robert Sanders (Angie) of Laconia, Perry Sanders (Nickki) of Millington, and Larry Sanders (Chelsea) of Atoka; a brother, Perry Matthews of Somerville; twenty-one grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, JoAnn Matthews, Irene Matthews, and Elsia Pittman.
