Lydia Skelton Clayton

Mrs. Lydia L. Clayton departed this life on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 74 Years, 11 Months, 10 Days. She was born February 10, 1939 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late Arthur Clark and Nettie Carroll Skelton. She was united in marriage to J.M. Clayton on October 21, 1986 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2005.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by brothers, Walter, Willie, Herschel, MacArthur, Eddie and Franklin Skelton; a sister, Peggy Garrison; son-in-law; Barry Stults.

Mrs. Clayton was a retired factory worker and member of the Mt. Hope Methodist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee.

She is survived by daughters, Lisa Butler and husband, Jamie and Cindy Stults; grandsons; Brad and Bryce Stults and Andrew Butler; great- granddaughter; Brylie Stults all of Waynesboro, TN; brothers, Paul Skelton of Waynesboro, TN and Edgar Skelton of Roseville, MI; sisters, Beulah Mathis, Margaret Carroll, Shirley Luker and Roberta Rochell all of Waynesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee with David Decker officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Brad Stults, Bryce Stults, Jamie Butler, Jerry Boston, Cary Crews, and Dave Mathis with Andrew Butler as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
