Mable Jean Wallace

July 19, 1944 — March 9, 2014

Mable Jean Lynch Wallace of Lawrenceburg, TN, formerly of the Chalk Creek Community of Wayne County, was born July 19, 1944 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late James Walter and Rosa Estelle Davis Lynch. She was united in marriage to William (W.L.) Wallace on November 2, 1963.

Mrs. Wallace was a retired secretary having worked with Bates and Springer Dental Clinic, with Dr. Paul Schwartz and Dr. David Magas at Collinwood Medical Clinic, with Dr. Edward Crockett in Florence, AL and at Waynesboro Middle School. Mrs. Wallace had served as the activity director of Wayne County Nursing Home and had worked at Genesco at one time. She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and had worked with the Red Cross and had served on the Wayne County Library Board.

Mrs. Wallace departed this life on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at her home after a brief illnesse at the age of 69 Years, 7 Months, 18 Days.

She is survived by her husband, William L. (W.L.) Wallace of Lawrenceburg, TN; a daughter, Melinda Jean Wallace Cates of Spring Hill, TN; brothers, John Hardy Lynch and wife, Rita and James Walter Lynch, Jr.; sisters, Mary Ellen Polk and husband, Dr. Don Polk, Nancy Diane Wallace and husband, Joseph and Cathy Marie Brewer all of Waynesboro, TN and Melessa Faye Lynch of Lewisburg, TN; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wallace was God mother to Chastity Byrd, her husband, Michael and their children, Carly Faith Rich, Brooklyn and Alex Byrd; Mindy Hunt, her husband, Tim, and their daughter, Caroline Hunt; and Ashley Beckham, the daughters of her extended family, Tommy and Judy Beckham.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by a sister, Bettye Elizabeth Richardson.

Services will be Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Cal Hampton and Larry Janes officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Christopher Lynch, Jamie Morefield, Joshua Swinea, Jon Lynn, Joey Morefield, and Gregory Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Byrd and Tim Hunt.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to New Life Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, TN.
