Mrs. Mae Holt Tatum, age 89 of Waynesboro, was born February 5, 1926 in Mississippi. Mrs. Tatum departed this life on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro after a brief illness. She spent her life as a homemaker and attended Topsy church of Christ. She loved children and cared for many over the years. Mrs. Tatum enjoyed playing bingo, puting puzzles together, and talking to her friends and family on the phone.
Mrs. Tatum is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walton and their three children, daughter Carolyn Sassenrath, son, Charles Tatum and wife Vickie, and daughter, Donna Wilson. She is also survived by her grandchildren Renee Maupin, Sabrina Wilson and fiance Brad Warren, Jason wilson and wife Codi, Jena Lynch abnd husband Christopher, great-grandchildren, Ciera and Madison Wilson, Damien and Dominic Wilson, Miranda and Alyssa Maupin. She is survived by her sisters, Nell Miller and husband Ray, Margie Flett and husband Milton, Lockie Vandervoort, and Willie Daven.
Mrs. Tatum is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Bessie Holt, sister, Ardilla Davis, brothers, Melton, Louis, Wallace, and Charlie Holt, son in law, Gary Sassenrath, and grandson, Kreg Lawrence.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro with Ronnie Pope officiating. Burial will follow in the North Highland Cemetery near Waynesboro with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 PM and Wednesday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
