Malcolm Virgil Blackard departed this life on Monday, March 17, 2014, at the age of 85 years, 1 month, 17 days.
He was born in Etta, Mississippi on January 30, 1929, the son of the late William Robert and Lavada Ida Pearl Williams Blackard. On April 11, 1953, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Marvene Garrett, who preceded him in death on December 9, 2000.
Malcolm was enlisted with the United States Navy from October 1948 thru October 1952. He was in the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Two (HS-2) Ream Field in California. He was formally of Trinity, Alabama and a member of Central Park Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Beth Blackard of Walland, Tennessee and Jackie Carol Blackard of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Nicholas Lee Azlin Vickery and Jesse Dean Kennel Vickery; great grandchild, Lucas Dean Malcolm Vickery; brother, Roy Quay Blackard of Memphis, Tennessee.
