Mr. Malcolm T. Watkins, age 87 of Hickory Valley, Tennessee departed this life Wednesday night, December 18, 2013 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong resident of Hardeman County, Mr. Watkins was born April 8, 1926 to the late Barney Wilford and Nicey Maude Shearon Watkins. He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee during World War II and worked as a farmer. He loved gardening, hunting, and fishing and was a humorous, strong-willed person with a good sense of humor. He was a member of the Middleburg Baptist Church. He was married to Hazel Watkins, who preceded him in death March 1, 2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Ellen Woodard (John) of Bolivar; four sons, Wayne Watkins (Linda) of Bolivar, Jimmy Watkins (Jamie) of Bolivar, Eddie Watkins (Juanita) of Rockvale, and Ricky Watkins (Charlotte) of Hickory Valley; three step-daughters, Geraldine Nuckolls (Sammy) of Toone, Mary Nell Walker (Hubert) of Stewart, TN, and Stella Pierce (Tony) of Medon; a stepson, Bobby Crowley (Jenece) of Middleton; three brothers, Glen Watkins (Bobbie Jean) of Saulsbury, Johnny Watkins of Memphis and Kenny Watkins (Debbie) of Hickory Valley; 36 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and second wife, Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Griffin and Barbara Hill; four brothers, Jack, Wilford, Wesley and Dennis Watkins; a great-granddaughter, Carley "Bite" Howell; his former wife, Virgie Marie Watkins, who died in February of 1974; and a stepson, Hugh Crowley.
