Mamie Lee Bingham Cherry departed this life on April 12, 2015 at her home in Savannah, Tennessee with her loving family at the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 22 days. She was born in Bath Springs, Tennessee on September 21, 1934, daughter to the late Odies and Lela Ethel Lee Buggs Bingham. She was united in marriage to Robert Joseph Cherry, Sr. on September 12, 1954. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1990.
Mrs. Cherry was a housewife and domestic worker. She attended Union Missionary Baptist Church, Love Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, Carson Street COGIC, Knee Temple COGIC, Pentecostal Assembly COGIC, and New Creation.
Mamie was a homemaker who devoted her life to God, her husband, the upbringing of her children, and the church. She was a loving, giving, diligent, hospitable, courageous, and compassionate mother and woman of God.
Mamie is survived by her daughter, Sondra Cherry and her husband, Stephen Albright, of Savannah, Tennessee; her siblings, Willie M. Bingham of Camden, Tennessee, Lula M. Vaughn of Royal Oak, Michigan, Elizabeth Thompson and her husband, Robert, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Mary Lee Shavers of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Sarah H. Nance and her husband, Freddie, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Johnny M. Bingham and his wife, Jill, of Bath Springs, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Helen Bingham of Florida; and grandchild, Cristal R. Albright of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mamie is preceded in death by her children, Robert Joseph Cherry, Jr., Paul Cherry, Patrick Cherry, Julie Cherry, Stephen Cherry, and Kristie Cherry; and brother, James O. Bingham.
