Margie Nell Jones Maples of Waynesboro, TN was born April 19, 1933 in Wayne Co., TN, the daughter of the late Cornelius Eugene and Opal Alene Cole Jones. She was united in marriage to Max Conrad Maples on December 22, 1949 and he preceded her in death on April 17, 2009.
Mrs. Maples was a retired postal clerk, was of the Baptist faith, was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and was a member of the United Postal Workers Union.
Mrs. Maples departed this life on Monday, February 17, 2014 at her home at the age of 80 Years, 9 Months, 29 Days.
She is survived by sons, Mike Maples and wife, Debbie, Gene Maples, and Bobby Maples and wife, Patricia; a daughter, Aileen Maples Hollis and husband, Jerry all of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Sheila Hollis Holder, Jerry Hollis, Jr., Mary Hollis Beckham, Emily Maples Rossberg, Cheslsea Maples Watkins, Ben Maples, Bobby Jowhn Maples, Shannon Maples, Brent Olive, and Chasity Olive Tiller; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Frank Jones of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Roy E. Jones, Robert Jones, Irvin Jones, Jerry Jones, Randall Jones, and Brent Jones all of Waynesboro, TN; sisters, Betty J. Melson, Margaret Devers, and Debbie Lineberry all of Waynesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Maples was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Jane Maples; brothers, Jackie Jones, Charles (Charlie) Jones; sisters, Clara Floyd and Joyce Kelley, and step-mother, Marie West Jones.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Jerry L. Robbins and Laverne Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in Shields Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Bart Jones will be a honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 5 pm to 8 pm and Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
