Mrs. Maribeth Bass passed away Wednesday evening, May 21, 2014 at her home in Whiteville.
A native of Tuckerman, AR, she was the daughter of the late Fred Lewis Lawrence and Mary Ruth Hanley Lawrence Smith. On May 2, 1959, she married Mr. Frank T. "Tommy" Bass. Mr. Bass passed away April 8, 2013.
Mrs. Bass was a former stewardess for TWA having been one of their first from the Memphis area. She also was an avid lover and breeder of Cairn Terriers. One of her dogs, "Jak" won Best Of Show for the Cairn breed at the famed Westminster Dog Show. She was owner of Hanley Gate Cairn Kennels and a member of the Hemocalius Daylily Society, The Jaycettes Club and the Inter Se Club of Whiteville.
She leaves her son, John L. Bass of Whiteville; cousin, Peggy (Raymond) Davis of Newport, AR; two nephews, Bert Bass of Memphis and Marty Bass of Nashville; a niece, Elaine Scholes of Nashville; her uncle, Tom Culp of Whiteville; cousin, Kerry Culp; two of her Cairns, Champion Hanley Gate Melody of Love and Champion Hanley Gate Scottish Sunset; her cat, Tom; and caregivers, Lillie Dickerson, Mary Ruth Mathis, Robin Jones, LaTasya Jones, Charlotte Anderson and Doris Lee.
Memorials should go to the American Diabetes Association, The Cairn Terrier Club or charity of the donor's choice.
