Services for Marjorie Elizabeth Lake Hines, age 98, will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10 at the Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Hopewell Community. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Mrs. Hines passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at her home in the Hopewell Community of Benton County.
Mrs. Hines is survived by her husband of seventy-four years, Curtis W. Hines. The Hineses were the oldest "Greatest Generation" couple in Benton County. She is also survived by her daughter, Beth Hines Davis of Iuka, MS, and her son, Frank L. Hines of Hopewell. She also leaves six grandchildren, Amanda Davis Ryan, Jennifer Davis Ryan, Leslie Hines, Laura Hines, Tamlin Hines and Savannah Hines Watkins. Her great-grandchildren are Davis Wallin, Leslie Wallin and Nate Ryan.
Mrs. Hines was a native of Hickory Valley, TN, the eldest child of Tamlin and Mary Raines Lake. She was preceded in death by five siblings and is survived by her sister, Barbara Lake Hogan of Woodland Hills, CA.
Mrs. Hines graduated from Lambuth College and taught elementary school in Hickory Valley and Saulsbury, TN. She delighted in hearing stories of her former students. Marjorie was a superb homemaker and a loving mother and friend. She found beauty in everything.
