Mrs. Marjorie Kirksey Stallings, age 95 of Bolivar, Tennessee, passed from this life Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Hardeman County, Mrs. Stallings was born in Toone, Tennessee June 17, 1918 to the late John Lewis and Cornelia Yarbrough Keller. She was a homemaker and portrait artist with Moore Studio in Jackson. She also attended Beauty College in Memphis. She was united in marriage to Mr. Russell Lynn Kirksey, who preceded her in death October 23, 1975. Later, she was united in marriage to Mr. Hubert Stallings, who also preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Bolivar First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Golden Sounds Choir. Among her hobbies, she loved sewing, ballroom dancing, fixing everybody's hair and working in the yard, growing things. One of her proudest achievements was being crowned Miss Hardeman County in 1936.
Survivors include four children, Jane Crangle (Jerry) of Chattanooga, TN, Ann Kelly (Mike) of Bolivar, TN, Charles Kirksey (Jean) of Charlotte, NC, and Ted Kirksey (Jean) of Memphis, TN; and three step-daughters Eileen Skelton, Ann Blackmore & Patsy Blackwell. She also leaves eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, second husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Don Kirksey, who passed away in 1946, and four sisters, Louise Williams, Kate Sawyer, Ola Sturdivant and Hazel Berryman.
