MARTHA ENGLAND
Henderson, TN: Martha Claire Darnall England, age 85 passed away July 3, 2018 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born February 24, 1933 in Crockett Mills and raised at Lexington, the daughter of the late Robert Clifford ‘Bob’ and Martha Carlee Lassiter Darnall. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1951 as salutatorian of her class. She attended David Lipscomb College and graduated from Freed-Hardeman College with an Associate Degree.
She married Richard England, Sr. in 1954. They made their home in AL, IN, AR, MO and TX where Mr. England served as pulpit minister for the Church of Christ. They moved to Henderson and Mrs. England worked at Freed-Hardeman College spending most of that time as secretary in the office of the president. She later worked as secretary at University of Tennessee Family Practice Clinic retiring in 1995. Mr. England passed away in 2013.
Mrs. England was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
She is survived by four sons, Richard England, Jr. and wife Barbara of Henderson, Bobby England of Lexington, KY, Jimmy England and wife Anne of Peachtree City, GA and Jonathan England of Parsons and a daughter, Rebecca Jorgensen and husband Tim of Clarksburg,, WV; eleven grandchildren, Richard England, III (Meredith), Amy VanBuskirk (Luke), Micah England (Tori), Katie Maxwell (Greg), Elizabeth Posey (Marcus), Brandon England (Shila), Spencer England (Jenna), Daniel England, Andrew England (Sarah), Austin England (Summer) and Mary Jorgensen and eight great grandchildren, Eli England, Ella England, Owen VanBuskirk, Gracie VanBuskirk, Ellie VanBuskirk, Matthew VanBuskirk, Asa VanBuskirk, and James Posey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard England, Sr. and a great grandchild, Aaron VanBuskirk.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Dr. Billy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
Memorials may be made to Freed-Hardeman University.
