Martha Harrison Gower

Martha Harrison Gower departed this life on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the age of 95 years, 11 months, 21 days.

Martha was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on December 23, 1917, the daughter of the late Harvey and Tishie Shelby Harrison. On October 11, 1947, she was united in marriage to Carl Montee Gower, who preceded her in death on March 12, 1976. In addition to Hardin County, she had also lived in Central, Alabama, Los Angeles, California, and Newark, New Jersey. Martha was a member of the Savannah Church of Christ and had worked at Brown Shoe Company, Sherman's Store, and Curr Dairy Farm. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many throughout her years.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer Copeland and husband Tommy, Helen Hollis and husband Bobby all of Savannah, Tennessee, Carl Gower, Jr. and wife Lisa of Counce, Tennessee; grandchildren, Michele Blount, Michael Copeland, Shannon Wilson, Cathy Stewart, Carriston Hendricks, Josh Gower, and Sarah Gower; great grandchildren, Josh Franks, Jordan Franks, Anna Copeland, Seth Copeland, Woody Wilson, Cody Wilson, Marlee Kate Stewart, Kyleigh Hendricks, Kayson Hendricks, and Max Gower; great-great grandchildren, Ava Young and Jacob Franks.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Shelby Franks; brothers, Shelby Harrison, Boyd Harrison, Grady Harrison, and Alva Harrison; sisters, Helen Lawson, Lillian Johnson, and Archie Sinclair.
