Marvin Earl McCasland departed this life on Monday, October 28, 2013, at the age of 74 years, 15 days.
He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on October 13, 1939, the son of the late Earl Sylvester and Etta Thacker McCasland. On December 1, 1961, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Woolcocks, who survives. Marvin was a welder for Pittman Construction Company in Conyers, Georgia. He was a member of the Boiler Maker-Blacksmith Local 455 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and Mt. View Church of Christ in Savannah, Tennessee. Marvin was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was very proud to say he was one "The Few The Proud The Marines".
Marvin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorraine McCasland of Savannah, Tennessee; sons, Joseph Allen McCasland and wife Patty of San Antonio, Texas, and Douglas Earl McCasland and wife Tammy of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Laura Kaye Slate and husband Troy of Canton, Georgia; grandchildren, Lucas McCasland, Tyler Slate, Kyle Slate, Julian McCasland, Felecia Garrard, Kristen Brown, and Cassidy Brown; great grandchildren, Scarlett Rood and Jaxon Bowling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Morgan McCasland and daughter-in-law, Cynthia McCasland.
