Mary Jene Reynolds

April 14, 1935 — March 26, 2018

Mary Jene Reynolds was born April 14, 1935, to the late Eddie and Effie Johnson, in the Nixon Community of Hardin County, Tennessee. She passed from this life on March 26, 2018, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 12 days.

Her Hardin County education was attended at Ballard School, North Elementary, and Central High School. Following graduating with the Class of 1953, she married her high school sweetheart, Jack Reynolds, on June 5, 1953. Her college study concentration was in Home Economics at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Memphis State University.

Mary Jene was an accomplished artist, interior designer, decorator, horticulturist, and homemaker. She had many admirable qualities making her a truly extraordinarily special lady. Her creativity and innate abilities to demonstrate her talents were evident in all tasks she pursued. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and Christian lady. She was a life-long member of the church of Christ and served her duties diligently and steadfastly.

Her hobbies included creating beautiful flower arrangements, painting exquisite compositions, gardening, event planning, crafting, sewing, and traveling. Her memberships included the Savannah Art Guild, Master Gardeners, Stephen Foster Music Club, Selmer Jaycettes, Selmer Sewing Club, Adamsville Canasta Club, Freed-Hardeman Associates, and the National League of American Pen Women. She owned and operated an ice cream parlor, fabric store, and was a licensed Affiliate Broker with Shiloh Realty in Selmer, Tennessee.

She was a gracious, elegant, and dignified lady. With her many talents, she made the world a more beautiful place for all of us to enjoy. Her influence will be cherished by many friends and family.

Respectfully honoring her are her husband of 64 years, Jack Reynolds; her son, Jay and wife Denise Reynolds; her daughter, Elizabeth and husband Kirk Linam; her grandchildren, William Justin Reynolds and wife Angie, Mary Margaret Reynolds, Mary Elizabeth Linam, William James Linam, and Jonathan Kirk Linam; one great-granddaughter, Brelee Claire Reynolds; as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Mary Jene was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Newton E. Johnson, Lonnie Baker Johnson, and Larry Mitchael Johnson.
