Mrs. Mary Katherine Dodd Simer, age 77 of Bolivar, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 7, 2015 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bolivar.
The widow of William Lavern Simer, who died on April 26, 2014, she was a retired pharmacy tech with Western Mental Health Institute, having retired in 1993 after 25 years of employment. She was born February 21, 1938, in Hardeman County, daughter of the late A. B. and Bessie Hill Dodd and lived her entire life here. A 1956 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, she enjoyed several hobbies, including cooking and gardening and working with her flowers, but she especially loved keeping her grandchildren. Mrs. Simer was a member of Shandy Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and a son in law, Debby (Butch) Ross of Bolivar and Becky Adams of Collierville; two sons and daughters in law, Ronnie (Annette) Simer and Tim (Vickie) Simer, all of Bolivar; a sister, Myrtle Faye Ervin of Seattle, Washington; nine grandchildren, Jason Howell, Jeremy and Jeffery Ross, Josh Simer, Jared, Kassi R. and Luke Adams, Brandon and Lisa Baker; and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, whom she married on December 15, 1956, and her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Benny Dodd and a grandson, Anthony Baker.
