Maurine McMurry Alexander was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on May 9, 1925, the daughter of the late James Otto McMurry and Ida Holland McMurry. On February 21, 1942, she was united in marriage to Grady Lee Alexander, who preceded her in death on October 16, 2001. Maurine departed this life on December 19, 2017, at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 10 days.
Maurine attended Milledgeville Pentecostal Church. She loved her family, friends, and her Lord Jesus with such compassion. At Hardin Medical Center, she was a strong prayer warrior for most of the residents, their family, and the staff. They lovingly referred to her as "Granny." Maurine never met a stranger she did not like. She would smile and greet everyone with a compliment.
Maurine is survived by her sons, Roger Lee Alexander and his wife Freeda, and Stanley Ross Alexander and his wife Glenda, all of Milledgeville, Tennessee; daughter, Gilda Dale Norman of Milledgeville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Allen Alexander, Karen Jaggars, Leann Alexander, and Brandon Alexander; great grandchildren, Cody Alexander, Colten Alexander, Laci Alexander, Brittany Jaggars, Brendon Jaggars, Megan Alexander, and Madison Alexander; and a great great grandchild, Alayah Alexander.
In addition to her husband of 59 years and her parents, Maurine was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelby Jean Alexander; sisters, Ruby Hamilton, Cara Nell Williford, and Wilma Senter; and brothers, Harold McMurry, Earl McMurry, and J.T. McMurry.
