MAVINE COX
Henderson, TN: Mavine Cox, age 96 passed away, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born and reared in the Woodville Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mattie Rhone King Cox. She went to school in Chester County and graduated from Chester County High school in 1940, and went to Freed Hardeman College and graduated in 1942. She then went to Union University and graduated in 1946 with a Bachelors degree in Education. She started her teaching at Woodville School grades 1st thru 8th and was the principal for many years. She also taught at West Chester Elementary. Mavine retired in 1979 after 31 years of teaching. She loved to raise flowers and cook for all of her family. She was a Christian in belief.
She is survived by a brother, Leon Cox of Five Points and a sister, Bernese Cox of Woodville. She was a very special aunt to 9 nieces and nephews, 5 great nieces and nephew and 4 great-great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by 3 brothers: Everett, John, and Robert Cox and 2 sisters; Evora “Sister” Howell and Evelyn Haynes.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Shackelford Funeral Directors-Casey Chapel with Anthony Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in the Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday.
